Cons for the ProForm City L6 Treadmill

Instead or pointing out all the positives that you are probably already familiar with, we will outline first what we believe are to be all the cons associated with this treadmill that we came across

1, Motor – for a treadmill in this price range we expected a more powerful motor yet the motor power here is only 1.6HP which has limitations when it comes to high intensity cardio sessions, fast running and higher calorie burning counts

2, Inclines – unlike many other high spec treadmills that offer incline options for tougher running experiences, there is no incline options available on this treadmill

3, Screen – you need to be able to provide you own tablet or smart phone device on the tablet holder

4, Handlebars – I don’t know about you but I prefer to have handlebars either side of me when running on a treadmill. You only have the front support here on this treadmill rather than side support handles

5, Deck size – the deck size here is fine for walking and light jogging but too short for taller people over 6 feet with longer than average running strides. The length of the deck could be somewhat longer in our opinion as it is more suited for shorter people or smaller users under 6 feet.

6, Max user weight – this treadmill is advertised to have a maximum user weight of 250 lbs / 113kg / 17.8 stone but we feel that it should be a lot lower than this due to the frame and motor power.

7, iFIT membership – they offer you a starter period free of charge to get you hooked and you need a credit card to activate it. To keep the IFIT after this, they want to charge you each month for the privilege. It seems they are more interested in trying to get you to subscribe to a monthly fee which I don’t like

8, Speed – the maximum speed it offers is 8 miles per hour or 12.87 km per hour

9, Water – unlike other treadmills we have seen, there is no water holder available to keep you hydrated on those longer training sessions

Pros for the ProForm City L6 Treadmill

1, Folding – One of the biggest attractions here is the folding flat ability of this treadmill and the ease in which it can be done – there is no hassle whatsoever and it’s great help when it comes to storage in confined living spaces.

2, Motor – one thing we noticed is how quiet the motor is and the belt running – it is certainly very smooth and offers an enjoyable workout experience which is supported with the cushioning on the deck

3, iFit App – for serious training motivation, getting fit and losing weight, you can sync the iFit app with this treadmill and you can try it out free of charge for 30 days. If you don’t like it, you can cancel the subscription before it kicks in

4, Warranty – you are buying from a trusted brand with tons of experience in this sector and it comes covered with a standard 1 year warranty for parts and labour so your investment is protected for a minimum of 12 months (reputable suppliers). The frame itself is covered with a 10 year warranty which is also good to know

5, Quick Touch – you have the option of using the Quick touch buttons on the display which help you adjust the settings a lot quicker so you can concentrate on your stride and training metrics

6, Compact Size – another big advantage for this treadmill is the smaller compact size which can fit into smaller living spaces such as apartments.

7, Noise – one thing we liked is the low level of noise emitted which is great when you have people living close by as it offers a smooth running belt but can be increased with heavier users.

8, Visibility – you still have visibility of you training metrics when you place the tablet in the centre storage shelf holder (unlike some other treadmill brands)

9. Lightweight – many treadmills can be extremely heavy and difficult to move about however this City L6 Proform treadmill is only 56.7kg or 125 lbs.

Conclusion

Although this treadmill is quite impressive, it is still only a middle of the road treadmill in our opinion and it wouldn’t be ideal for the taller or heavier users. The easy folding mechanism makes the chore of folding it away after use really simple to do and the quick touch buttons and compact size works well for shorter users in smaller living type spaces.

That being said the length of the treadmill becomes slightly longer when you fold down the front frame backwards so you should be aware of this plus we would be concerned about motor burnout after prolonged heavy intensive use and the length of the deck from longer strides with taller people over 6 feet.

Verdict

Would we recommend it? Yes we would for shorter people in small living spaces but no for taller heavier people who need a treadmill for heavy use and prolonged intensive cardio workouts. Yes it is a well-designed compact folding treadmill but we feel it would lack the power, strength and endurance for tougher heavier use.
