If you are looking to buy a reliable and high performing exercise bike in the coming days, then please make sure to check out our list of Best Exercise Bikes which will cover 7 different models for you to choose from and will give you a range of price ranges that can suit almost anybody’s budget.

UK Review Work

We have reviewed a wide selection of brands and models in the UK be it for weight loss, cardio workouts, console features, flywheel sizes and spin bikes for interval and strength training which can help to boost stamina levels. You should be familiar with most of the brands outlined here but we have also included some great performing exercise bikes that we really liked and we know you will like also.

Benefits

There are great benefits to having your own exercise bike at home as they can provide you with a great cardio workout, build muscle strength and toning up your lower limbs which in turn burns a significant number of calories each and every week. The other significant advantage is the fact that there is no impact on your joints as you can see happening with road running so you can prevent any accidental injuries that may occur especially with your ankles or your knees in particular.

Factors to Consider when buying an Exercise Bike

  • Starters – should always start with low budget bikes, many can be got for less than £200 and in some cases less than £100
  • Space – have you enough space for the larger framed bikes or do you need to buy a foldable bike instead that can be stored away after use.
  • Tracking – if tracking of your calories, speeds, distances and pulse rate is important, please be prepared to spend slightly more and ensure that the console screen can report back on these type of fitness parameters
  • High Spec – fitness fanatics who are serious about their training sessions should always insist on the larger flywheels, pedal flexibility, resistance training capabilities and training programmes included with the unit
  • Motivation – to help keep you motivated, choose a model that provides entertainment as you work out be it Bluetooth connection, MP3 connections, built in speakers and of course water bottle holders.

Types of Exercise Bikes

  1. Foldable: If space is extremely important to you, choose a bike which can be folded away after use. The Roger Black foldable exercise bike is one that we have tried before and works well.
  2. Upright Bikes: Most common type similar to riding in the outdoors (some are foldable also)
  3. Recumbent Bikes: Your body sits in a reclined position and it is more geared towards legs muscles and supports your back and any associated back aches or pains
  4. Spin Bikes:  Choose a spin bike or an aerobic bike if you wish to complete interval or strengthening training sessions and these are more geared towards the serious fitness fanatics for specialised training programmes, calorie and fat burning
  5. Turbo Bike Trainers: These are geared towards race training like using a standard road bike in a stationary position indoors so you get the full experience indoors without the outdoor hassle of bad weather or traffic.

  1. I’m on my road to recovery from a accident so I cant run like I used to anymore, I have used exercise bikes a lot in the past so I was really looking for something to give that extra piece of comfort for longer sessions. It is well worth investing in a quality bike as it will help you maintain and develop fitness, taking you to new levels of endurance. It is good to see some of the brands I like featured in this list as I am familiar with over half of these already

  2. Hello there! this is an excellent review you have got here for Exercise bikes as I am trying to get my things organized in the current lockdown pandemic and I need to have my fitness equipment organized for the Winter period. What is important for me is flexibility in different  intense cardiovascular workouts and also the MP3 connectivity so I reckon the ProFrom Tour de France bike will tick all of my required boxes, just a quick note to say thanks for pointing me in the right direction!

    • You are very welcome and best of luck with your own final decision – many thanks also for taking the time to stop by and leave your feedback.

  3. Not bad, not bad at all. You have a couple of very good bikes in this list that I really like!.  I find it very good that Reebok tops here again. I guess the company is really trying to meet up to standard to other brands in the sector. The good thing about it is it still has a price that is quite affordable. I might just get that one too as well as the Concept2 and the Proform look awesome but are a little out of my price league at the moment.

    • Good choice of brand and best of luck with your final decision. Many thanks also for taking the time to stop by and leave your feedback, Take care, John
